Golf was first introduced to Japan when an English merchant built the first golf course for the Japanese. The golf craze then began among businessmen, but quickly spread to the masses. Today, there are more than 3,000 golf courses in Japan and more than 15 million golfers play them. On the other hand, even though it has become cheaper, it is still said to be a sport with a high threshold. In order to protect the environment, the government is introducing new regulations that will determine how courses are built.
