ISLA WON HER FIRST CACIB AT OULU'S
INTERNATIONAL SHOW!
The international shows in Oulu on Saturday and Sunday
were the reason we headed north. Isla had already started
blowing her coat so we thought about long and hard if we
should go or not. In the end we decided to pack our things
and take the trip to Oulu. On Saturday the American Akitas
were judged by Paavo Mattila. Isla got an Excellent, she
won the bitches and in the end she was awarded as Best of
Opposite Sex! This also gave Isla her first Cacib! We were
so pleased with Isla's performance in the hot weather. On
Sunday the judge was Gunnar Nymann from Denmark. He also
awarded Isla with an Excellent but this time she was
placed second in the Best Bitch competition. Isla showed
very nicely the whole day and we were so happy with the
results from the weekend! Thank you to both judges
and congratulations to all who were successful at the
shows!

NICE RESULTS FROM JOENSUU'S SHOW
WEEKEND!
Two show days in Joensuu are behind us! On Saturday's All
Breed Show American Akitas were judged by Pekka Teini and
the trainee judge in the ring was Mari Lackman. Isla was
awarded with an Excellent, as the Best Bitch and
eventually as Best of Opposite Sex! In the International
Show on Sunday the judge was Cristian Stavarache from
Romania. He also gave Isla an Excellent and placed her
second in the Best Bitch competition. So this weekend gave
Isla two CAC's, one reserve CACIB and a BOS win! Thank you
to the judges and congratulations to all who were
successful at the show.

ISLA WINS BEST OF BREED AT THE ALL BREED SHOW IN
KANGASNIEMI!
The show day was sunny and hot. They had promised rain and
thunderstorms but instead of umbrellas we should have
packed suncream and a lot to drink for the day! American
Akitas were judged by breeder-judge Tomasz
Borkowski (kennel Sasquehanna) from Poland. He awarded
Isla (Finigan Bos-Eri La Isla Bonita) with an Excellent
and as the Best Bitch and in the end with the Best Of
Breed win! Thank you to the judge and congratulations to
all who were successful at the show! Congratulations also
to Isla's co-owner and breeder Blanka

ISLA BEST OF OPPOSITE SEX IN KIIHTELYSVAARA!
There was a Group Show held in Joensuu's Kiihtelysvaara on
Sunday. The ring for American Akitas had been placed
outside and the size of the ring was very good. Because of
the windy weather the day was a bit chilly but luckily it
didn't rain even though they had promised rain in the
forecasts all week long. The judge for the American Akitas
was Markku
Kipinä. Isla (Finigan Bos-Eri La Isla Bonita) received an
Excellent from the Intermediate Class, she won the bitches
and was awarded with the Best of Opposite Sex with a CAC.
As usual Isla behaved very nicely both inside and outside
the ring and we had a very nice day! Thank you to the
judge and congratulations to all who were successful at
the show, especially to the new Finnish Champion Mosku!

ISLA BEST OF BREED IN LAPPEENRANTA!
On Easter Sunday we headed for the All Breed Show in
Lappeenranta. The show place for the American Akitas was a
chilly ice arena but luckily the ring was big enough so
that you could really show the movement properly. The
judge was Dubravka Reicher from Croatia and she awarded
Isla (Finigan Bos-Eri La Isla Bonita) with a Best Of Breed
and a CAC! The result was truly fantastic and we were so
happy with Isla's performance in the ring! Thank you to
the judge and congratulations to all who were successful

co-owner

ISLA IN THE SHOW RING AGAIN, IT HAS
BEEN A WHILE!
After about 8 months break from the show scene we headed
for Korpilahti's Group Show with Isla (Finigan Bos-Eri La Isla
Bonita). I was a bit nervous what she would think about
the show atmosphere and how she would show in the ring
after such a long break but it all went great! The judge
for the American Akitas was Leni Finne and she awarded
Isla with an Excellent in the Intermediate Class and
placed her second in the Best Bitch competition with a
reserve CAC! We were so happy with Isla's performance in
the ring. Thank you to the judge and congratulations to
all who did well at the show, especially to the new
Champions!

NICE SHOW AND HEALTH NEWS TO SHARE
The ranking of the Finnish American Akita Club for year
2009 was published in the end of January and Isla (Finigan Bos-Eri La Isla
Bonita) placed very nicely in the puppies as well as in
the adults. Isla was last years #4 American Akita Puppy in
Finland and in the adult females her placement was a great
#3! Congratulations also to Isla's breeder and co-owner Blanka
Borowiec-Szczepanska for these great results! This year we
have not yet done any showing but we are planning to go to
a few shows later this spring. Hopefully our puppy plans
will keep us away from the show ring from late summer
onwards depending on Isla's seasons and the success of the
AI. We also got good results from health exams. Isla's
thyroid autoantibodies were tested and the results came
back as normal so she is TgAA negative.

HAS BEEN CONFIRMED!
Isla's (Finigan Bos-Eri La Isla Bonita) first litter is
planned for the fall/winter this year. The litter will be
sired by Zac (MBISS
Am/Can Ch Koti's Silver Eclipse of Akiko ROM, AOM). We
want to thank Zac's owner Keith Venezia/Nakodo Akitas for
this great opportunity to use Zac for Isla! Zac has an
amazing temperament and he is a proven producer of quality
offspring. We hope that the AI will be successful and
results in a healthy and beautiful litter. Take a look at

A LOOK AT THE PAST YEAR 2009
The year 2009 was great for us in every way! Isla (Finigan Bos-Eri La Isla Bonita)
had arrived in December 2008 and 2009 was our first year
together with this lovely lady. We also got to finally
start showing and the results we got were simply
outstanding! Isla competed in the puppy classes until the
end of April and in the junior classes after that. Despite
limited showing she was awarded with three BOB Puppy wins
with a Best In Group 3rd placement and in the adult
classes she won BOB four times with a Best In Group 2nd
placement! We especially remember all the beautiful words
Isla got from the judges, thank you so much to the judges
for this! In
addition to the show results we also got some great
results from the health checks. Isla was examined for hips,
eyes, elbows and patellas and the results were the best
possible. We couldn't have been happier with all the
results from the year 2009! A huge thank you to Isla's
breeder and co-owner Blanka
Borowiec-Szczepanska / Finigan Akitas for this sweet and
happy girl!
