THE FIRST AMERICAN AKITA BRED BY KODIAK CANYON WAS BORN!

A beautiful daughter was born for Isla (C.I.B, Fi, Se & Ee Ch Finigan Bos-Eri La Isla Bonita) and Zac (MBISS Am & Can Ch Koti's Silver Eclipse of Akiko ROMX, AOM, CGC, RN, VA), and she is also the first American Akita bred by Kodiak Canyon! This little princess is the result from an artificial insemination, and she was long hoped and wished for. We are thrilled that our long wait has been rewarded and we get to enjoy this beautiful girl and watch her grow. There is a link to a photo page on our breeding webpage and we will be updating new photos as she grows. Below are a few photos taken of her at the age of four days. Thank you to Zac's owner, Keith Venezia, Nakodo Akitas, for this great opportunity to use Zac for Isla, and for making it possible for us to start our breeding program in such an unique way! A huge thank you also to Isla's breeder and co-owner Blanka Borowiec-Szczepanska, Finigan Akitas, for trusting us with our precious Isla, who is now also a proud and happy momma!

ISLA GAINED HER SWEDISH AND INTERNATIONAL CHAMPION TITLES!
Isla (C.I.B, Se, Ee & Fi Ch Finigan Bos-Eri La Isla Bonita) had started blowing coat already quite some time before the show. Because there wouldn't have been that many chances for her to gain the titles before she was totally out of coat, and on the other hand before she should come in season, we decided we would go to the show in Piteå, Sweden, despite she was not in the best possible coat. At the show American Akitas were judged by Hannele Jokisilta. She awarded Isla with an Excellent and a Certificate Quality and as Best Of Breed with a Certificate and a Cacib! With these great results Isla gained her Swedish Champion title and got the last Cacib needed for her International Champion title! We are extremely proud of Isla's accomplishments and we want to thank and congratulate her breeder and co-owner Blanka Borowiec-Szczepanska, Finigan Akitas, for Isla's success! Thank you to the judge and congratulations to others successful at the show! Isla will be taking a well deserved break from the show scene after these great results. We will see when and where her next show will be.

ISLA BEST OF OPPOSITE SEX IN JUVA!
We headed for Juva's National All Breed Show on quite a short notice as we had decided the night before that we were not going because of the extremely hot weather and car trouble. On Sunday morning we however woke up to a nice cloudy weather and when we did manage to pack everything in our other car, we decided to go to the show after all. American Akitas were judged by Marianne Baden from Denmark. Isla (Fi & Ee Ch Finigan Bos-Eri La Isla Bonita) got an Excellent and a Certificate Quality from the Champion Class and in the end was awarded with Best Bitch and Best of Opposite Sex! The show day was really nice, thanks for the great company to the American Akita folks at Juva! Thank you to the judge and congratulations to all who were successful at the show!

WITH SADNESS WE HAD TO LET TEDI GO
Today we said our last goodbyes to our beloved Tedi. Close to 13 years he graced us with his presence and was such a joy in our lifes. We miss him greatly. Have a safe journey to the rainbow bridge Tedi, thank you for all these years and beautiful memories. Rest in peace together with Kasper, you will be deeply missed.
(June 23rd 2011)

I do believe with all my heart, that your soul has gone to be,
With all the other angel dogs, that you were meant to see.
We will have to stay behind, until God calls us too,
So do not be afraid, that he's only called for you.
That one day our eyes will shut one last time,
And you will come greet us, angel of mine.
Until then, we'll keep trying to see through our tears,
With memories you left us, to reflect through the years

ISLA BEST OF BREED IN PIEKSÄMÄKI!
The National All Breed Show in Pieksämäki was held on a hot summer day and the lack of shade made it a tough day for both dogs and people. American Akitas were judged by Mr Barry Makepeace from England. He awarded Isla (Fi & Ee Ch Finigan Bos-Eri La Isla Bonita) with an Excellent and Certificate Quality, as the Best Bitch and eventually as Best Of Breed! Due to the extremely hot weather we didn't stay for the group ring later in the afternoon, instead we headed straight home. Thank you for the great critique to judge Mr Barry Makepeace and congratulations to all who were successful at the show!

The judge for American Akitas, Irina Poletaeva, gave Isla an Excellent and a Certificate Quality from the Champion Class. Isla was awarded as the Best Bitch and finally as Best of Opposite Sex! THE ARTIFICIAL INSEMINATION WAS UNSUCCESSFUL
Unfortunately the AI was unsuccessful so our first American Akita litter still awaits its arrival. We plan to try again from Isla's (Fi & Ee Ch Finigan Bos-Eri La Isla Bonita) next heat in late fall/early winter. We haven't yet decided on the sire for the litter, more information will be added as the decision is made. Let's hope we would have better luck next time!

FINALLY SOMETHING STARTS TO HAPPEN!
Isla (Fi & Ee Ch Finigan Bos-Eri La Isla Bonita) finally began her season in the beginning of March, and we plan to AI her from this heat. Hopefully her season will develop well and the AI will be successful, we are excited to see how the situation develops! The sire for this litter was chosed already over a year ago, he is the handsome Zac (MBISS Am & Can Ch Koti's Silver Eclipse of Akiko ROM, AOM, CGC, RN, VA) owned by Keith Venezia, Nakodo Akitas, USA. You can find photos of this gorgeous veteran male on our breeding webpage and in the 2010 news. Stay tuned for updates on how everything goes by checking our breeding webpage, fingers crossed we will have wonderful news to share with you!

We are hoping to have offspring from this very sweet care bear Isla

WE WISH EVERYONE A WONDERFUL YEAR 2011!
The year 2010 is behind us and we are excited to see what this year will bring with it! Last year gave us two Champion titles for Isla (Fi & Ee Ch Finigan Bos-Eri La Isla Bonita), hopefully they will not be her last. We did very well in the show ring during the year and Isla ended up as #3 American Akita Bitch in Finland, just like she did in 2009! Thank you to all the judges! Special thanks for this lovely sweetheart of course go to Isla's breeder and co-owner Blanka Borowiec-Szczepanska, Finigan Akitas! We had to postpone our breeding plans for last year because of our own holiday plans. This means that the beginning of year 2011 will be especially exciting for us! We expect Isla to come in season in January, and are very much hoping that the AI will result in a litter of beautiful puppies from Isla and Zac (MBISS Am & Can Ch Koti's Silver Eclipse of Akiko ROM, AOM, CGC, RN, VA)! We hope that the year 2011 will bring us the puppies we have long hoped for, many new friends, and it would be nice to get back in the show rings in the end of the year, hopefully abroad also!
(January 11th 2011)

Isla wishes everyone lots of happiness and excitement for the year 2011!
