I was searching for my first American Akita for a long time and finally ended up importing her from Buckridge Akitas, USA. Hera was born in November 2006 and she arrived in Finland in the beginning of March next year. She was bought as a show puppy, but things did not go as planned. Hera developed an undershot bite when her puppy teeth changed and in addition she was diagnosed to be allergic in fall 2007. Because of these issues Hera will not be used for breeding and she will not be

entered to any shows either. Hera has been registered to the EJ register which is for dogs not to be used for breeding. She has also been spayed.

Instead of a show and breeding bitch, Hera is now our companion. She is as dear to us with her undershot bite and allergy as she would have been without them. This beautiful girl instantly captures most of the people she meets and she seems to gain new admirers wherever she goes. Hera knows what she wants and with her outgoing and fun loving temperament she is sure to keep our other dogs alert and ready for action. Hera is our first American Akita and she will always have that special place in our hearts. She has taught me a lot about this beautiful breed and has captured my heart in a way I could have never imagined.
